Welcome Katy. Living in the W Mids must put Matt's place at AgPhotographic reasonably close. He sells the Digibase C41 kit which gets great reviews.
I have the Digibase kit which I have yet to use but even if you haven't got a Jobo processor the Digibase kit is said to work over quite a range of temps but the short processing time for the 100F degress means that even a water bath at just over 100 should maintain the temp and inversion agitation with the correct timing works. Welcome to the forum. I also used Pentax cameras (we're probably a minority). I too recently joined, and everyone seems very friendly and willing to give advice - you never stop learning.

Regarding the Digibase kit, I find it works very well and partly used solutions keep surprisingly well too.
I just stand the solutions in a bowl of water kept at 40 Deg.-a little above the usual developing temperature. That seems to work fine. The main thing I find with colour processing is that it's very easy to be put off by the added awkwardness of maintaining a temperature higher than you would usually use for B&W and there being more chemicals. The reality, in my experience, is that modern colour films are more forgiving of error than you might have been led to believe, so you can relax, enjoy it and still get printable results even if a time or temperature isn't exactly right. Also, if you do relax, you're far less likely to do anything wrong anyway. Nice to hear from you Katy - and enjoy your photography, both B&W and colour. |
