I should guess that if you are a collector of her work and you would like a camera that she had used its a snip at £800 for a piece of photographic history..

If I was going to pay that sort of money I would want to know what the provenance was.

Of all the pictures I have seen her in, where she was using a camera the only make I ever saw her with was a Hasselblad

You've got to laugh haven't you? Drop in the name of a well known photographer and hike the price up.
I have an RZ67 outfit, so I will pass by the sellers offer of the 'But it now' price.

May be I could sell my MPP 5x4 with a 180mm Symmar-S and advertise it 'As used by John Blakemore'.

I have a Cooke XV convertible in an Ilex 4 shutter exactly the same as Ansel used (except the serial number) I wonder how much I could get for that if I were able to fool anyone into believing ot was 'the one'?

I tend to agree with John, I thought she used a Hasselblad.

Can't comment on the cameras provenance, but if anybody's got £800 for an RB67, I've got one that I might be persauded to part with. I can then buy another and keep the change

Let us be fair here, I think that the seller has both demonstrated provenance and explained why one generally sees pictures of Fay with a Hasselblad.

Whether you then want to pay so much for a camera is your business. Last time I looked, you could get a RB67 with three lenses for 800€ - but it is your choice.

Bests,

David.

Default discrepancies

In the description the camera is described as a 'Rangefinder'. It may have been a simple error if used once, but it has been used twice to describe the camera. The RZ is most certainly a reflex.

The seller states that he was given the equipment, but does not appear to have any documentation to support this. If there had been, this would have included it in the sales talk, I'm afraid a postcard from Fay is not enough unless it mentions the gift.

The only bit of evidence connecting Fay to the camera seems to be a name on a worn camera case. Sorry for me that's not enough to blow £800 on.

Even if it were hers I don't see much of an attraction to owning it.
I'd rather have an original signed print.
