Default Photon Beard Easels (RR) Brochure

PHOTON-BEARD.pdf

Seems that Beard quoted easel sizes based on maximum image size and not paper size. These easels are no longer manufactured but crop up regularly for sale.
They are very good if in decent condition.

I'm perhaps fortunate to have three different sizes of the two blade Beard easels. For reference, the dimensions of each are:
  • Image Size Base Size Overall Size
  • 12x10 18¾x16¼ 20¼x16¾
  • 16x12 22¾x18¼ 24x18¼
  • 20x16 26¾x22¼ 28¼x22¾
  • 24x20 - unknown.

Notes: Base size is the dimensions of the board excluding any hinges or protrusions. Overall size includes hinges and side spring arm.

Thanks Paul. Anyone seeking a Beard easel needs to know these sizes. Without this knowledge it would be easy to buy a Beard easel that didn't fit the enlarger baseboard.

The real critical number is the distance from the center of largest print window to the enlarger column which should be less than or equal to the distance from enlarger lens axis to column.

Using Beards figures and their advised 3.5 inch addition that means each of the easels require:

12" x 10" requires 8.5 inch lens axis to column distance
16" x 12" requires 9.5 inch lens axis to column distance
20" x 16" requires 11.5 inch lens axis to column distance
24" x 20" requires 13.5 inch lens axis to column distance

I have verified this by measuring my two easels.

My Beard 20x16 (print window) easel just fits on my Durst L1200 when using the column mounted on basebaord. The bigger one wouldn't fit but I have a wall mount for the L1200 which means I can slide the easel under the column so it would.
