I did think of you. I found a 6x9 Durst set of masks I've used in the past but they won't fit a 504 (or 5108).

If you are after the plain aluminium masks you might think about making then from sheet aluminium or cardboard. I made a set of temporary 6x17 st out of mount board a few years ago and will make a fresh set from Aluminium in the next couple of months. I've made various size mask this way before.

Thanks Ian, I think you're exactly right, some 'home brewed' masks could well be the solution...

If you use card treat it with a couple of coats of dilute PVA before use. This kills any possible dust and makes the card more durable.

Actually Black acrylic paint is even better. I use one that's Matt black which is ideal.

The idea of using dilute pva is that it penetrates the card and makes it a lot stronger and therefore more durable in use. A matt black finish is a good thing to do but equally you could also use matt red.

The Acrylic paint also penetrates card to the same extent and has a similar benefits.

If you want to make card rigid then wood hardener (in a well ventilated area) works best, super glue works for smaller areas.

You do see De Vere neg carriers and inserts turn up on the auction site from time to time but alas these days they go for silly money. But it is worth looking all the same because occasionally a bargain can still be had.
