Default ffordes break in

Not sure if others are aware but 2 - 3 nights ago ffordes were broken into and a lot of Leica equipment stolen.

The list and serial numbers are here: https://www.theleicasociety.org.uk/f...ic26092018.pdf

From the Leica Society site:
"Police Incident Number NN10337/18
If anyone has any information regarding the break in at the shop please contact Mr C Still (Police) on Inverness 01463 228452"

Bill, you have (maybe inadvertently) led me to the Society: thank you very much for that.

I'm very sorry to hear the news. They sold me a Canon lens at just that time. I hope the stolen goods turn up.

A 5 page listing of stolen goods, with serial numbers.
So much stuff the thieves would be faced with a risky and prolonged process of selling on bit by bit.
Or, stolen to order and it's all gone abroad in a container to somewhere with loose morals and plenty of spare cash. Fill in your own destination of choice. Despicable, and hopefully Ffordes are properly insured and will survive this loss OK. It must be heart-breaking to have someone target your business so ruthlessly. I've had good dealings with them before, though nothing recent.
Good luck to them.

Shocking stuff. They are in the process of selling off several Łk of equipment for me, luckily the one Leica lens in that lot not part of the stolen inventory.

There really good guys to deal with, a more straight up outfit I haven't come across hence why I had the confidence to clear out all my unused equipment with them.

I hope they get through this period relatively unscathed but I fear all that kit will already be in Russia or China or somewhere similar.

Default Stolen

The persons responsible must have had a very good idea what they were looking for. Only Leica items were taken and they are quite small as well (apart from the Reflexes) I wonder if they were stolen to order?

Or look for a plethora of specialised Leica appearing on fleabay

I think this equipment was stolen to order.

When you go into the shop, there's a room dedicated to Leica equipment, but it's all in glass cases.

There is a huge amount of film and digital equipment on open display, so if it was an opportunistic theft, then then the thieving b****ds would have gone for the easy stuff, including high-end digital hardware.

I hope no-one was injured and that the company bounces back.......it's one of the few stores I frequent nowadays.

Have dealt with Ffordes a few times, buying and selling, and as has already been said, a very fair and honest company.

Along with everyone else here I hope they ride out the storm and recover.

I've found them, like others here, to be good to deal with and fairly priced, they're the first place I look for stuff and often find unexpected things. (Mifsuds were similar) I may consult them when I dispose of all my unwanted/unused/never to be used quality gear.
