Default F-Stop Tilopa

I decided that it was time to cut down on the weight of my 5x4 kit bag. I was using a LowePro back pack but it weighed almost 9 pounds when empty!

After some research I came across f-stop bags in the US. It is very difficult to by a bag untested but I took the plunge and purchased an "Tilopa" backpack. The empty pack weighs around 4 1/2 pounds, a good saving.

The pack arrived yesterday. My first impressions are that it is extremely well made and comfortable to wear. I have attached a couple of images with some LF kit inserted. A full description and further images are on the f-stop site here.

When I have had the chance to use this 'in action' I will post my findings here.

Good idea Barry, it will be interesting to see it in the flesh

But are there any mountains in Dorset to test it up

Neil.

No, no, Barry! You can be so kind and let EVERYONE carry your gear for an hour or so - that makes the bag - field - test much more reliable

We can do a FADU inspection and mini-field test in Dorset and then follow it up with a proper full hiking test in North Wales in the winter
You should get enough out of that to write us an Article

Neil.

We can only do that Barry if you carry my bag whilst I carry yours
