Default 5% ammonia

Hi all

I did not pass my chemistry o-level and that was a very long time ago !
but

I am trying to make R3 monobath
the only Ammonia I can find says 5-9.5%

I take that to mean that it is somewhere between 5 & 9.5%

do I need an Ammonia hydrometer to find out what it really is
or is there another way as I am not having much luck finding an Ammonia hydrometer

can anybody advise on where I might buy one or where I can get 5% Ammonia in the UK

thanks

robin

I would have thought any hydrometer would work if you know what you're putting it into and the associated numbers for a water/ammonia mix.

Robin,

From our 'links section' I would email Rose Chemicals to see if they can help:

http://www.rose-chemicals.co.uk/

I can't see 5% Anomia listed but they might still be able to provide it. They get back to queries quite quickly, and are still very much in business, so give them a try.

Neil.

Process Supplies list 10% ammonia. Dilute that 1+1 with distilled water and there you are (but check with them).
