Default Northumberland Coast

In 8 days (and counting) we will be taking the trailer tent to Dunstan Hill Camping and Caravanning Club Site. It is South of Lindisfarne.

Ideas, photo opps welcome - particularly favour WA lenses and fishing boats.

Thanks

Andrew

You basically can't move for decent photo locations up that neck of the woods. Like an all-you-can-eats photographic restourant. The main difficulty is finding something that hasn't already been done to death.

As a Geordie and Northumberland in my back garden. Dave P is 100%
correct..............all the regular scenes have been well and truly done to death. But of course people like to have there own versions. so enjoy Northumberland, the language and the beer

"Done to Death" or not - it hasn't by me so go on, list your favourite "tripod holes"

Lindisfarne Castle ( Holy Island), and the causeway at varying times of day and levels of water ( except high tide ) alone could keep you well occupied, then the Castles, Dunstanburgh and Bambourgh in particular ( again very early or late).
But please do not tell too many people

One area that tends to get overlooked (compared to the usual views of bamburgh castle from those rocks) is budle bay and the bit of coast just past the lighthouse between budle and bamburgh.

Just inland there's also bowden doors if you fancy some good sandstone crags.

Craster is well worth a visit if you like fishing boats and the smell of kippers! There's also a nice pub.
Inland, near Wooler, there's Roughtin Linn. A hidden waterfall in a little gorge. There are also some rocks with prehistoric carvings nearby. It's a magical place but you'll take days to find it! OS Ref: NT984366 - I only use paper maps these days!

Rob,

I failed to find Roughtin Linn. I'll have to scan in the colour negs of 'somewhere near Roughtin Linn' so you can tell me how close I was.
