Which manufacturer should I buy? Hoya, B+W, Tiffen? Tiffen are the least expensive but are they as good as Hoya?

I think that depends on what you want to spend. The B+W one is 5 stop range (exposure time factor 32) and probably has the best glass and coatings but I'd hazard a guess it's the most expensive by far.

I've look on B&H Photo Video in New York and they don't have a 5 stops but a 6 stops B+W 67mm 1.8 ND MRC 106M Filter. The price is 120$ US which is not too bad but the filter factor is not mentioned. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...d_Neutral.html

If its 6 stops the time factor is 64 at max setting

1 stop = 2
2 stop = 4
3 stop = 8
etc

No-one mentioned Lee Filters.

They are primarily square optical flats to be used in a frame. I found Lee Filters to be very helpful with difficult technical issues.

I've look at it and it looks pretty good but it is quite expensive at 263$. I think it is worth thinking about it. And yes I am looking for a screw in filter.

Yes of course. I think its just marketed as digital because most cameras are digital these days and film or digital they are both sensitive to the visible spectrum.

from the B+W site:
Quote:
B+W filters in digital photography?
B+W filters are often used in digital photography despite the wide range of software for image processing. Although subsequent image correction is possible, a good shot is usually better and saves a lot of time by avoiding image post-processing.
Basically, B+W filters have the same characteristics with digital cameras as they do in analog photography. The standard filters for any photographic kit are the B+W protection filter, the 010 UV haze and 007 clear filter, and a B+W polarising filter, especially the latter, since it influences image information that would be lost without this filter.
Impressive experimental images can be created with B+W ND and B+W infrared filters. Even with B+W close-up and macro lenses we can achieve amazing effects. If the digital camera has a black and white mode, the classic B+W black & white filters are used when shooting to increase contrast. This saves the time-consuming post-processing.
In addition, there are numerous B+W effect filters and special filters. With some types of filters it should be noted that under certain circumstances the automatic camera correction, or even a laboratory correction, can take corrective action and counteract the filter effect.
