Default Leica still makes film cameras

http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-...7.php?langid=2

The video shows the production of the M7 camera (only the final steps, though).

Cheers, Miha

In the shutter testing step there is a wire to the camera (where?) that from the dialogue seems to program it for things like light meter and shutter calibration. I wonder if it also could re-program the flash proccessor? Then Leica could offer a cheap(!) upgrade to cure the few minor errors in the firmware (maddening red dot flashing, two second fire up).

Mentioning Leica and cheap in the same sentence could be seen as blasphemy

The video quotes a production of 100...150 analogue cameras per month and relies heavily on sales in Japan, where it has a cult following, but the production is dated 2009. The speaker states that there is no renaissance yet. Sad.

That's probably because the topic was started in 2009.

They still make film cameras and their lenses are interchangeable between their film and digital bodies which is a very good thing.

Since they brought out their digital offerings I rekon many new buyers will go for those. They did say their eastern market especially Japan was steady so I rekon that figure won't have dropped much. And with a figure that low for film cameras it's no surprise Zeiss/voightlander stopped making the zeiss ikon.
I also think its the lens market that continues to do reasonably well since there are so many M Mount cameras out there and again the digital compacts have adapters for M Mount lenses.

I knew Nikon still made a film camera, but was a little surprised, I am not sure quite why, to find Canon did too, but have no idea what the up-take of such equipment is in the professional market. I am currently working in China, Chengdu City, but have yet to find a single shop that sells film!!! Is film photography dead in South Central China?

They EXPORT their 'Shanghai GP3' film so that is why they haven't any in their shops -- but the Chinese are not short of a Bob or Trillion !!
