Default Mamiya C330 leather peeling

Well, let's start off with the good news. I now find myself in possession of another Mamiya C330 Cosmetically it looks in pretty good condition, no serious dinks or dents and it comes complete with a blue dot 80mm lens.

The bad news? Well, it is in need of a service: when loading a film it winds on to the end without stopping at 1 and most worryingly the leatherette is peeling quite badly on one side.

Now as the camera was given to me I don't mind spending a little to get it up and running, however I don't know what to do with the leatherette. Any suggestions?

Brian

Is it too simplistic to suggest that you stick it back, or does it need replacing?

Well, it shows signs of having been stuck down before: there are signs of a tear in the middle. I was thinking that if I attempted to stick is down again it would probably look tatty, but also not last too long. I wondered what quality alternatives were available.

Now that's an option, I could get the repairer to put on a new jacket when I get the camera serviced.

I tried ordering some replacement leather from cameraleather.com but nothing turned up. I ended up taking the C330 into Newton Ellis as is was in dire needed of a service anyway. The end result is a fully serviced camera complete with some new leatherette on one of the side panels.

So, while cameraleather.com let me down, but still took my money, Newton Ellis came up trumps.

Brian,
I am sorry to hear the problems with the site I recommended; have you contacted them?
I buy a lot of stuff from the USA, some times it can take a very long time to arrive, chase the odd thing by phone, but never had anyone take money without sending items.
Hope the camera gives you some good images after the TLC you have given it.

David.
