Default Hello

Hello, I joined some months ago and plead guilty for using the site for picking up bits of information and be inspired by the excellent images, finally I the felt it was time to get involved.

I joined the local Photographic Society 20 years ago and black and white pictures have been my main interest ever since, although do take colour occasionally. Nearly five years ago we move house and I brought all my darkroom equipment with me, but.

Was this the time to finally change to digital imaging?

I can produce a presentable monochrome digital print but it’s not the same, not sure why, most people cannot tell the difference, It’s seems more in the heart rather than the head.

The darkroom was finished a few mouths ago I haven’t got my printing back to when I left off but I’m trying.

Regards, John

Hi John and welcome.

As one who has been far down the digital cul-de-sac before reversing out I can empathise with you completely, as will many others here.

Hi John and welcome to FADU.

My several digital cameras get little use and I continue to spend money on paper, film, and chemistry for the last 17 years or so. No regrets so far.

Welcome John. It's like riding a bike. You never forget but getting back to the Tour de France standard takes just a little practice :

Welcome - I have made a point of positively avoiding digital my entire photographic life. When you work with a computer for 8 hours a day you don't want to use one for your hobby (obsession???).

You can't beat a good hand made print - so satisfying.

A digital camera has made its way into my family of Pentaxes, but it gets the least use of any.
