Not just before your time, Norm. Slightly before Noah's time.
Hopefully the two 'large glass optics' are the condensers. I like the description of its condition as 'good'. Just what would it look like if it was 'poor'??

I thought that this looked quite interesting! I may have gone to see it if it was nearby. I think it could be made to work with a new light source. It probably does film up to whole plate, or possibly larger. Good for 5x7”, which would otherwise be difficult without a DeVere 5108 or similar. Bellows and lenses should be easy enough to source. A good project for someone who had some DIY skill.

I was curious enough to look at the link. I'm totally lost though as to why there is a pair of 'noise blocker' headphones in one of the pictures... I presume they are needed for some reason? But does anyone know what for?

The only possible answer has to be they were added to provide a clue to the dimensions of the machine & that was all the vendor had to hand! A house brick might have been better.

My guess is 1920's for age, any other suggestions?

Martin, I think 1930's, his was an "Auto-focus" Lancaster 2Universal" Automatic Enlarger possibly the M.V. mercury vapour lamp model. Made in Half and whole plate sizes.

However the bellows and lens stage are missing so it's useless.

I missed the photo showing the lens stage, at £45 it could be resurrected

Yeah, but £45 is more than it cost brand new!

Although a quick comparison online suggests that is equivalent to somewhere between £1,500 and £2,000 in today's prices allowing for inflation... Yikes!

Cheers, Bob.
