We've been there before, the best suggestion was a donkey if I remember correctly; bit difficult to get in the back of a car though.

As Dave says we have been there before but I've recently switched from my trusty old Tripp holdall to the new Lowepro 600AW back pack when I need to trek for a bit

I find most of the newer large Lowepro bags really superb for LF gear. Particularly when you consider they were designed around digital kit. Compartments designed to take a lap top are perfect for 5x7 and 8x10 DDS. The 600AW will easily take 3/4 8x10 DDS or 7/8 5x7 DDS, camera + lens, plus 2 extra lenses, dark cloth, light meter, cable releases, filters, cleaning kit, etc. The only problem for me is lifting it on my back, once its in position it is very comfortable to carry

It would easily accommodate your 10 x 8 Deardorff + accessories.

I gave up tryng to carry it all. I made a box, and put it all on a fishing trolley. 10x8 monorail, home built, won't fold into any kind of bag, and I was fed up of having to assemble the thing every time I wanted to use it. As long as the bumps in the terrain are reasonably sized, it functions. If I can drive right up to the spot, even better!

The Tamrac Expedition 9X is also worth a look. It takes my Sinar F2,four lenses, dark slides etc with ease. There the ease stops, as it is quite large, and obviously heavy when so loaded. It's very well designed and made, with proper rucksac straps and framing making it comfortable to carry.
