Default Hello from Hamburg, Germany

Hi Folks,

somehow I stumbled upon this site and now joined. I am a 50 year old amateur photographer, living and working in Hamburg, Germany.

After taking up photography in the 80ies and a long hiatus I rediscovered photography some 5 years back. I never went digital, couldn't find my way around it and afford the necessary investments. So I shoot film again, partly hybrid and now in my own darkroom (currently under construction and closed because of low temperature in our cellar). Some imagery (mostly hybrid) can be found on my web site (http://rlfsoso.tumblr.com/ .

My darkroom will reside in a cellar a friendly lady allowed me to use, unfortunately without running water. I have so far build a sturdy –low – table (the cellar has a maximum height of 2m) for my two enlargers and some storage space. I plan to add an arduino-based f-stop timer. Processing will be in trays, washing has to be done in our bathroom. Some printing has been done in our kitchen but setting up takes a lot of time.

When – finally – it gets a bit warmer again I will properly test in my 4x5 film and plan for some serious shooting ;-)

Indeed welcome Rolf. It never fails to amaze me with the high standard of written English that is written by people from places like Germany, The Netherlands and Austria - puts us to shame.

Hi Rolf and welcome. It never fails to amaze me how poor my understanding of written English is and I am a native of Britain. Michael Wal from Germany asks for advice about a marten, a large weasel-like creature and I give him advice about a martin, a small bird!

Welcome Rolf. Best of luck with darkroom construction. I hope it's a dry cellar!
