Thank you boys for the warm welcome ....
Guys, it is so nice to see so many of you extending a warm welcome to me on FADU. This place seems to be a lively place to be in !!
And I must thank you Neil, for the update on VICTOR BLACKMAN of Amateur Photographer. It is so sad, even shocking. I never was a regular subscriber to Amateur Photographer, but would come across a few old copies now and then at a photographer's studio back in the eighties. His column was great. At one place he suggested that even if you are out of photographic subjects, you should still load up your SLR with film and try your hand at capturing various subjects to see how the film handles various light combinations. For instance, he meant, try taking shots in a coal cellar or an attic, using B if needed, then pictures in available light during night hours, and so on. I idea was to thoroughly familiarise yourself with the full range of capabilities of your film. Great advice, and an equally fine column by him, but I am disappointed hearing of his passing away. I feel lucky I have at least a copy of his book with me. |
