Default Hello from Northamptonshire

Hello

I am new to the world of film photography. I started with a digital camera about 5 years ago, but find myself drawn away from the dark side and feel a need to try film and processing (maybe it is bringing out the chemist in me).

I was given a Canon EOS300 a couple of years ago, which works for me as I can use my digital lenses. However, it was a Holga that led me to develop my first films last month (please forgive me ). Fortunately no good photos have been harmed in the making of my first processing!

I have just bought an Ensign Selfix 16/20 which should hopefully arrive by the weekend. I also find myself strangely drawn to Russian rangefinders.

That said I will freely admit to knowing very little about film photography, but am enjoying the whole learning experience.

(and that would be Northamptonshire for those that can spell - curse you fat finger syndrome and iPad. )

Welcome to the forum Clare, glad to read that you are enjoying the film experience. Beware the Russian rangefinder, they can become addictive.

Hi Clare and welcome to Fadu, the Ensign 16/20 is a great old British camera that is capable of great results, I have one among a collection of Folders that includes 4 ensigns, and I use them all, so have fun with it, and show us the results, but be careful, these folders can become very addictive, I almost use nothing else these days.

Welcome from Down Under.
There's two coincidences here. My father came from Northampton, and I use a Zorki 4K.
Best wishes for 2012.

Welcome aboard Clare.

Glad you are enjoying your foray into film.

I had an old Ensign and was greatly disappointed by the high quality of the lens so I bought another, cheaper model, and that gave me the look I was looking for . I now have half a dozen old folders and get much enjoyment from the puzzled looks I get from people at this strange object from a bygone era that I am holding up to my eye .

Have fun, Bob.
