Hi Ian and welcome. Back to Oz,eh, after 10 yrs here in the U.K. How will you be able to live without having to fill the bed with two wheatbags every night for warmth for about 4 months of the year? Well that's what I have to do and I am a native!

Thanks very much for the welcome everyone - pleased to be here.
And I won't miss the wheatbags, Mike. In fact, I could almost do with some ice-packs in the bed these last couple of weeks! My darkroom doubles as a sauna if I don't turn on the aircon down there... |

Hi Ian, why swap good English Ale for a hole in the Ozone layer?
I love rangefinders too, can't afford a Leica but use a Bessa R3a with 40mm Nokoton and a superb Olympus 35rc bought for £18 off e-bay last year. Regards Andrew

Hi Andrew
You raise a good question - but I think the hole in the ozone layer is helping me appreciate the local super-cold lagers! I had one or two just yesterday, and enjoyed them very much. Glad to hear you like your RF. I am currently loving the portability of 35mm, and have been neglecting my trusty MF gear... Ian |

There are some fantastic "Summer Ales" that can be cooled in the fridge - so all the good things a cold lager has to offer with the benefit of the hoppy taste.
G'day Andrew

Interesting antipodean twist on the Winter Ales you get here in the UK (usually stronger with spices added)...

Welcome, Ian, from a one-time resident on the Gold Coast. Amongst the items on my shelf, there's a Zorki 4K with a 28mm Canon lens. Alas, it hasn't been getting the exercise it needs.
On the subject of beer, how is Toohey's Old? |

Thanks Stan. Yep, the Gold Coast is not far away...
I really quite like Tooheys Old. It has been around for a long time, and is a very dark ale. But there seem to be so many new beers around these days that I haven't had an Old for a while. I recently became a member of the Brisbane German Club, which is just down the road, so have about 1000 new beers to sample there now! Ian |
