Anyone planning to document effects of coronavirus?
https://www.theguardian.com/world/ga...ed-in-pictures
Not many signs of the effects of coronavirus where I live in a semi- rural area apart from crazy people hoarding toilet roll. Apart from taking a photograph of empty supermarket shelves. Which would be dull, I have not been inspired to go out and photograph anything yet. Have the streets where you live shown any significant signs of reduced footfall? Will you be tempted to photograph the empty city streets if the situation gets worse?

A thread on this subject could get awfully near the knuckle (see, for example, cliveh's thread on Photrio, which has gone bananas).
But yes: as I've spent my life photographing things around me, if I'm allowed outdoors by the authorities I'd expect to record impressions of life here during this episode of history. |

Well certainly any real signs of the effects could be useful for historical purposes and looking back to it in say a few years. Especially good the grandkids to see the effect of a pandemic on "life"

Like Norm, over here nothing much to photograph, empty supermarket shelves, so I will be keeping my cameras in their bags for now

I may take the opportunity to photograph my local town or city without so many people about but not really planning to document empty shelves.

Photographing landscapes without jet contrails looks appealing.
An indirect benefit of people not moving around so much. Martin |

Well, as I'm now self-isolating as family members are showing symptoms (although I'm not - yet) I'll be spending a lot of time in the darkroom catching up on printing, toning etc.

Recording the situation
In brief - no specific record. However, as I am one of those in the age 'at risk' zone (But no underlying issues) I am being particularly careful and having listened to the PM's broadcast, I understand I can still go out, but not to have any contact or be closer than about 3 feet.
As I live on the edge of the north Pennine moors, now it is a bit warmer, I can walk to my hearts content after driving where I want to go. The possible benefit will be less people, less traffic and as a consequence, the pollution should be less everywhere. No tea rooms, no pubs, unfortunately, but I can carry a few sandwiches, a flask of tea and most importantly a bag of toffees. |
