The camera takes a set of four LR44 button cells to power the shutter. I guess longevity depends on usage, but I have been told to expect a throughput of at least one hundred films from a set. I brought my batteries from the Small Battery Company and paid £3 for a set of four post paid.

Thanks for clarifying that point Leon, my post obviously refers to the later Ai version of the camera.

I think that as your batteries are lasting four years you are not using it enough.

I stupidly didn't pack any spare batteries for my SQAi on a recent trip and ended up having to buy them from a local jeweler, I came out in a cold sweat when they charged me £10 each!

I buy mine from 7dayshop http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/defa...o=SEARCH&comp=

My SQA's battery seems to last a long time (it only operates the shutter speed in the SQA) and are easy to find: any camera shop, Boots, Maplin etc will stock them, even many supermarkets.

That is an excellent incentive for me to get a spare set out of a draw and into my camera bag.

My ETRS take the same 6v battery. When I first got it they didn't seem to last very long - just a few weeks. However, they seem to last quite a while now. I have no idea why!

Steve.

I buy my LR44 batteries by the card - 10 per card for around £3-4. With the metered prism, one set will last around six months, although I find I've been swapping them out fairly regularly since christmas. Probably something to do with it being a tad chilly outside.
