Default Rodinal (R09) in soft packs

Rodinal (renamed R09) is now manufactured by Compard KG and is now available in 330ml soft metallised polyester packs. The dev times on the pack will be familiar to existing Rodinal users. Metallisation reduces gas permeability and the soft pack can be squeezed to exclude air before resealing, so the contents should last even longer. Rodinal was already known for its good storage characteristics, but I get nervous after two or three years!

I process film in three different locations plus hotels, loading stainless-steel spirals in a changing bag. I keep several 500ml bottles of Rodinal on the go. One hasn't had much use, the concentrate is opaque dark brown and the bottle has partially collapsed. Any idea what the eventual lifespan is?

Compard offer, as you say, a contract packing service, although according to their website they also operate a professional photo lab. Is para-aminophenol, the main ingredient, still manufactured by BASF?

I have used Rodinal from an opened bottle that was at the very least 15 years old that I found at the back of my developer cubourd and although it was black it developed the film fine, and I believe that somewhere on their website Silverprint have used Rodinal that was even older,

I can remember reading these words, "When Rodinal refuses to leave the bottle, it's no longer usable".

Aparently so. I understand that it's still the key ingredient in both Adox's RO9 & APH09 (1913? Formula) versions of Rodinal. I suspect it also has uses outside photography as I guess there wouldn't be any point in making it in such small quantities.

Pain-killer Paracetamol
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4-Aminophenol#Uses
Quote:
[...]p-Aminophenol is a building block compound. Prominently, it is the final intermediate in the industrial synthesis of paracetamol. Treating p-aminophenol with acetic anhydride gives paracetamol[...]
If that's true, there should be no worries about the supply chain of para-aminophenol as long as people swallow the stuff (Paracetamol, not Rodinal...)
