I've just received Dave's offering for this months print round, number 40.

It's a 10 x 8, printed on Fomatone MG paper, developed in ID78 home-brew (must look this up), from a negative taken on a Mamiya RB67 with a 90mm lens.

The paper have a warm look to it and looks like an unglazed glossy FB paper.

The scene is of Rydal Water in the English Lake District and a very nice scene it is to.

It's a scene of a small building on the edge of a lake, with a background of trees and mist, set against a back drop of a cliff, with most of this reflected into the lake.

There is a bit of empty sky, with tone, at the top of the picture. As I think most of the interest is in the bottom 2/3rds of the picture, I personally would have cropped the top bit out.

A very pleasant English scene, that I am happy to have received to add to my collection, so many thanks Dave.

My print has been albatrossed this afternoon. I'm hoping it flies as quickly as usual.

I received Tony's print yesterday - Keld Waterfalls in Swaledale Yorkshire and the type of scene I love exploring and photographing myself.

Tony developed the film in Prescysol - I've not used these types of developers and am curious about them. There are no obvious signs of burning and dodging on the print which has a perfect range of tones with just the right detail in highlights and shadows - a product of the developer or the expert printer?

It is a beautiful scene perfectly rendered (and the paper works for me Tony - it has a lovely neutral finish)

Thanks and regards,

Gerry

Thanks for your comments Gerry, must confess to do doing a bit of burning and dodging though, but I do find Prescysol does help.

Not one but two prints arrived by albatross from StanW yesterday. The official exchange one was of a wooden country church on stilts in Australia and the bonus print an infrared photo. Two more for my collection!
