Rodinal and Infrared
Since the demise of the real Kodak B/W Infrared I have not bothered with IR.
However out of frustration I have tried the alleged "quasi" infrared films such as Rollei / Efke / Maco and have developed in Rodinal, but with not IR effect at all. Can anybody help with times and or exposures etc |

Dave what filter(s) are you using on the lens?

I am glad you mentioned 'filter' Trevor as I think that could well be the problem too.
It is essential to use the nearly black red filter with these films. Rodinal should be fine but will be a tad grainy. Neil.

Dave
I have had reasonable success with Rodinal and Konica Infrared 750 ( I still have some left in the freezer). I used a deep red 4X (not black) filter and rated at ISO 6. Develop in Rodinal 1:50 at 20C for 6 minutes - agitate 5 seconds every minute. Hope this helps. If I could work out how to upload an image I would post an example. Good luck. Andrew |

Hi and a warm welcome to FADU. Filters for the current range of infrared films is a subject I am very interested in at the moment as we are down to just three cassettes of Kodak I/R in the freezer I wold love to see one of your images using the 4x red as a lot of experimentation is going here to find a good infrared film + filter combination. Neil.

Thank you for the welcome.
Unfortunately I can't post images as the "posting rules" box states that I "may not" post attachments?? The same applies to pms. I am happy to share the image - I just can't figure out how - any help would be appreciated. Thanks Andrew |

Sorry my mistake, I should have said that the forum configuration has been set to only allow uploads after the user has made 6 forum posts. Sorry for the inconvenience, it has been set this way to stop spammers from instantly uploading. You are almost there!
