Default International post & I/R film?

Looking at a superb I/R rendition, printed by Dave and posted by Vincent; along with some of the other excellent prints done using I/R film on FADU. It has got me enthusiastic – in more years than I care mention, I have never put a single roll through any of my cameras……..

Has anyone ever had IR film sent through the post 'abroad'?

David.

Flattery will get you nowhere, but keep it up.

No personal experience but there is no reason I can think of why it would suffer any worse than any other film. The IR sensitivity is not likely to be more or less effected by any security scanning techniques used: x-rays are so far away from visible/IR light it would make no difference. I suppose there may be some worry about high temperatures during transit but again I seem to recall people who know about these things saying it was not really more susceptible to heat damage either.

Perhaps trial a couple of rolls before comitting to a bulk order.

Good luck, and don't forget to post the results!

Bob.

I have received several rolls of HIE from abroad and although it was well out of date it worked fine for me. I could see no faults with the film and I think that I have taken some of my best IR shots with it. There are 3 shots taken with it in my IR gallery dated this year.

I was away with club last weekend and used 3 more rolls so we'll see if it is still up to scratch.

I have never experienced any problems in the received IR materials, regardless of the carrier: UK Royal Mail, USPS, UPS, FEDEX, DHL, …etc.

I regularly order IR films from US and European dealers and never had any trouble.

During the last 15-years I've ordered Kodak HIE several times from B&H and Freestyle, Kodak Aerographic 2424 from David Romano, Ilford SFX200 from Robert White and a lot of different IR stuff from Germany and haven't notice any fog problems.
