Smile Hello from Dublin

Delighted to have discovered this site!

I used a Pentax K1000 in college and got some darkroom experience. Took some pretty average colour shots after that. I went digital in 2007 with a Pentax K10D. While I like the convenience of digital I kept hankering after 'real' black and white photography. Digital lacks that magic of light striking film or a print emerging from developer. I love the feel of negatives and the smells of darkroom chemicals. Maybe that's what happened to me!

I bought a Pentax 67ii on eBay last Christmas. Though I haven't done much with it yet, I love the size and feel of it and the idea of doing 'slow' photography. Some day, I might even have my own darkroom.

Looking forward to exploring film photography again.

Seán

Welcome aboard Seán.

Film is certainly a more tactile (and aromatic!) experience!

Cheers, Bob.

Welcome Sean. That's two hands-on cameras you mention where you are in control. That sums up the essence of analogue for many

Enjoy that SLR on steroids

Hello Sean
Welcome to FADU, theres nothing quite like the magic of pulling a film off the reel after its been developed and seeing what you've created.
regards
Richard

Hi Sean, welcome to the forum. As others have said, nothing quite like the anticipation / dread of removing a freshly developed film from its reel. Have fun.

Ian
