Can I recommend the present show at Side Gallery Newcastle upon Tyne
Finnish documentary photographer Pentti Sammallahti. His coverage of eastern europe and especially Russia is stunning.

Are those the panoramics? I think I've seen them somewhere, beautifully observed (if they are the same ones).

It's a new name for me and his work does look wonderful, thanks.

There's an exhibition of his photographs at the Nailya Alexander Gallery in New York until 31/01/2019.

Do a search in these pages on Sammallahti and you will find further discussion, including on his book Here, far away, which I bought following the thread. It's a marvellous book.

I saw what I assume was the same exhibition when it was at TPG in London. I was already familiar with most of the photos thanks to a Finnish friend who brought the booklet from an exhibition in Finland.

The images are wonderful, magical. But I confess I was a bit disappointed how small and dark the exhibited prints were.
