Colour Darkroom
Just how I print in colour (:
YOUTUBE LINK - Colour Darkroom I develop all my colour films in ECN-2 chemistry not in C-41. It's is because I started to shoot on cinematographic films (like Fuji F-64D or Eterna 500T). And after that I started to develop all films in ECN-2 (Ektars, Portras etc...) and they are ok. In positive it's RA-4 Kodak Ektacolor chemistry and mostly Kodak Endura papers (started on Supra after that on Ultra and now on Endura Premiere). Sometimes I buy few boxes of 8x10 Fuji CrystalArchive paper sheets for contact prints, because it's better than cutting in total darkness from paper on roll...but I prefer Kodak papers (: |

They are versatile machines, but it could go wrong at any time.
In colour print is the big disadvantage, that you do them in total darkness. Work with easel, cut the paper from roll...there is no safe-light... |

Big Paul. Have faith. I started colour printing way back around 1994 and once I had worked out the basics the rest fell into place. I actually find it easier than B&W once all the filtration and temperatures are sorted out and stabilsed.
I confess I started out with the intention of making a go of it and invested in a Nova proccessor and a DUKA colour safelight; available still today but not cheap. The downside for new workers in colour is the amount of paper used in test strips and repeated failures due to incorrect colour balance innacuracies. The upside is colour paper is a bit cheaper than traditional B&W and even inkjet paper. You live too far away from me, (I live in North Durham) or you would be welcome to come and have a session of printing to see if you could take to it.. |
