Good luck with the printing, Faraz. You have some exceptional landscapes on your Flickr account and those that aren’t as good as that are merely beautiful. The challenge will be getting your prints to look as good as your scans. Do that successfully and you’ll have a lovely “body of work”, as the arty crowd like to call it.

Hi
Faraz you have done a great job there ,that looks really great in there .you will see a different image on paper than you will on the screen ,when I scan a print I preferer the print ,when you make your first print there will be a part of you in that picture ,and it gives you a great feeling of achievement that you made it ..have fun ..

Thank you Brock

I've been printing for a while but in a makeshift temporary darkroom, and indeed it is different to scanning. When I process a scan I'm always thinking of the darkroom, so I try not to use methods can can't be replicated with exposure, split-grade contrast, flashing, bleaching, toning etc. You can see some of my print work on my website, www.farazravi.com. Still a lot to learn but nice to finally have somewhere more functional to work in.

Just finished blocking the last of those pesky photons from entering - looking forward to loading a reel without using one of those dark bags! Hoping to get printing next week, some plumbing challenges so will have to start without running water.

Very nice setup Faraz and I'm very jealous of the 504. When I think back to when I owned one, along with a couple of Focomats, and sold them all for what now appears to be a pittance, to play with digital. I deserve a clout round the ear for being so stupid.
Had a quick look at your site too and you have some lovely images on there.

I think most of us who sold analog gear 10-15 years ago to go digital are wishing we'd held it. Including me and my beloved Nikon FM2, in mint condition sold for £80 in 2005
