6x9 is one of the formats I shoot and I can say the De Vere 203 does not fully cover 6x9, you can get 6x7 + a few mms more and that's it. My 6x9 work gets printed on a De Vere 504.
The De Vere 504 will of course cover formats from 35mm up to 5x4 but if you are using 35mm most of the time then a good MF / 35mm enlarger would be more suited to your needs. Doing 35mm on on a 504 works great, but it is massivly over-kill. There are not that many 6x9 cameras out there, are sure you really need 6x9 capibility ? Neil.

I can throw some light on this one:
5. Is there any advantage to choose a MKII version rather than the previous one? The MK II is newer of course and finished in an attractive black, whereas all the MK Is I have seen have been finished in cream. The MK II black finish looks better to my eye than the cream finish. My two De Vere MK Is (504 & 203) have the cream finish. I have used MK II 203s both at the old RPS Bath darkrooms and at couple of colleges I have run lith printing courses at and as far as I can remember they operated exactly the same as the MK 1s. I asuume a decent MK II would be more expensive than a decent MK I but by how much I have no idea. But if you buy a good example of either you are bound to be delighted and will have an enlarger that will last you a life-time. Neil.

Question 9. Is it possible to rotate the head by 90° to print on the wall?
Answer = No The head and lens panels are independent and fixed to the column. However, the height of the column allows printing up to 50x60 com on the baseboard. Martin |
