Definitely my Leica M6, and if I could only have one lens the 35 mm Summicron, it is truly an extension of your eye. Phil.

Fortunately the OP asked "which camera" but put no restriction on lenses. It's a difficult choice for me because I would have trouble choosing between my two favorite mechanical, manual-focus 35mm SLRs: the Original Canon F-1 (second version) and the Nikon F2. Lens and accessory availability is probably a bit better for the Nikon, but the Canon has a superior metering system -- to me, at least.

And yes, I would choose 35mm over other formats because it is the most flexible. Besides, when shooting with a very fine grained slide film and critically sharp lenses, very large blow-ups can be made without sacrificing much detail.

I guess my decision would come down to sentiment more than anything else, and for that reason, I'd have to go with the Canon F-1. While I love my old Nikon F2, I have a passionate fondness that goes beyond mere love for my old Canon F-1.
