Todays washing-up liquid is also fat based.

It is a fat that is soluble in water but a fat none the less.

That is why drinking glasses that have been washed up by hand look rather dull after they have been left in a cupboard for a while - unlike those washed in your dish washer.

I'm not sure what a dishwasher would do to the multi-coatings on a filter.

A very good reason to use Kodak Photoflo. If it is OK for leaving negatives mark free then it will work equally well on filters and lenses as well.

Trouble is I don't use photo flo I normally still use a drop of washing up liquid in my final rinse, same way I don't use distilled water. just good old tap water for my final rinse, mind you our water is very soft, old habits die hard, I have done the same thigng for 50 years and never yet had negative problems, Maybe next time I order anything I will try some wetting agent, but the problem is I can't buy anything for photography over here, and that goes for digital or analogoe, in Jersey there is nothing, not even cameras, unlike our cousins in Guernsey who have a good photo shop, We used to have a couple of very good camera shops, between them you could get everything you needed, but a few years ago Jessops moved in, drove the other 2 out of business, then they went bust and I live in a photographic wilderness, sadly,
Richard
