Replacing Bellows on Wista DX
I am just about to replace the bellows on my Wista DX before selling it. I noticed some pinholes on the bellows when I checked it over before selling, and have ordered new bellows to fit so the camera will be A1 for the new owner.
Before fitting them I wanted to pick the brains of the very knowledgeable folks here on FADU, any help and advice on removing the old ones and fitting the new will be greatly received. I have of course researched the subject and the consensus of opinion is, using contact glue to attach the new ones, and I have picked up various advice on the procedure. But I am open to all advice, it would be particularly useful to here from anybody who has replaced bellows to a wooden framed camera themselves. Thanks in advance for any input. Neil |

Hi Neil - probably not much use, but I used PVA to reattach part of a Sinar bellows to its frame. It is strong and flexible, but I'm not sure I would trust it to do the job on a full set!
3M's Scotch Weld Vinyl adhesive sounds like it would do the job, but it's hellishly expensive. As an aside, as far as I was aware you couldn't get replacement bellows for the DX, so where did you get them; and I hope you don't mind me asking, were they expensive? Phil |
