If anyone else is interested I have 30" x 10" lightbox that I would like to get rid of. send me a message if you are interested.(It is to big and quite heavy to post so would have to be collected.) It has daylight quality tubes.

I assume from Paul's pic that modern lightboxes are almost flat. I presume that there is some kind of a light behind the screen that is similar to modern TVs?
Not bad value for £23 and if my assumption about the way of lighting is correct there may be no way to change tubes but what hardly matters if like a TV the light last years. Mike |

They are very thin and seem to be a couple of sheets of white perspex with some form of led lighting in it, to put it simply. Mine works off a two ended USB cable and I power it in the darkroom with one of the small power packs that are mostly used to charge mobile phones when out and about and when it has lost its power. I got mine from the pound shop for about £4 and it is about the size of a Mars bar. Terry S P.S. Just looking on ebay, these are what I'm talking about and the cheapest I could find. the power pack has p/p added but as said they are also available in the pound shop: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/384289648...UAAOSwvqhg-Uhf https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274571998...UAAOSwTbBfrU1y Last edited by Terry S; 7th August 2021 at 12:02 PM. |

The mars bar chargers are new things to me Terry. It looks as if the light box is 5v and the small end of the wire that comes with it plugs into the box and the other end( the larger end) goes to the charger. How is the "mars bar" charger plugged in to the mains?
The light box wire looks as if its big end will go straight into the kind of 3 pin plug that charges a unit by simply plugging it into the mains so is the mars bar charger only required if you do not have one of these plugs and leads that come with a mobile phone? Thanks Mike |

The 'mars bar' charger, doesn't come with a charger, as it is connected directly to a USB mains plug by a USB cable. And there are I'm sure, other ways of using the tablet without the mentioned power pack, like using a cable that goes directly into the mains, as long as the mains socket is close enough to where you want to use the tablet, or you have a long USB cable. I hope that this all makes sense... Terry S P.S. And a cheaper power pack has just been recommended to me by ebay...: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/123526022...Cclp%3A2047675 |

One more obvious question which I failed to ask: How long will the lightbox operate, once fully charged, before needing another charge or does it in fact need to be constantly plugged in to the charger?
Thanks Mike |

These light boxes have no internal battery, so it needs to be plugged into a usb charger or power bank whenever you want it lit

Or something with a live USB socket, like a computer.
