Default Kentmere 100 and 400

Can anyone recommend dev times (20C, inversion agitation every minute in small dev tank) for these films please - Paterson's leaflet does not give times? Thank you.

Times and dilutions for a number of common developers are all in the data sheets from Kentmere:
Kentmere 100
Kentmere 400

I am looking for a developing time for Aculux 3; Digitaltruth does not give a dev time for any Kentmere film in Aculux 3, nor do Ilford's product data sheets. Thanks for your help.

Times for either of the current Paterson developers, Aculux 3 and FX39 are conspicuous by their absence unfortunately. Kentmere is a very recent film and combined with a very much minority use Paterson developer seems to have resulted in almost no users so no times.

The best I can say is that another user on another site said that the times for HP5+ and FP4+ are very good starting times so Paterson's times for these films in either Aculux 3 or FX39 would seem to be worth a try.

Unfortunately Harman only quotes times for Kentmere and D76 and the Massive Dev Chart( Digitaltruth) gives nothing.

Maybe time that Paterson did its own tests on these two new films but has it the skills and resources to do so?

Best of luck

Mike

A starting point would be Aculux 3 at 1+9, 8min for Kentmere 100 and 9min for the 400. This is based on comparing a number of films in D76 with the times given by Kentmere and then looking up the same films listed for Aculux. Shoot some test rolls, and then adjust the times up or down depending on the desired results.

This is the method I use when using a film I don't have data for in my chosen developer (usually 510-pyro).

Another possible source of information is http://filmdev.org/ which not only gives times for various film and developer combinations but shows examples as well.

Good link Bill but either of the two Kentmere films and the two Paterson devs seems to be very rare combos. In fact I have yet to find it.

At a rough guess I'd say that for the 400 film give 30% more time than that given for HP5 and for the 100 speed film give 30% more than given for FP4.

For your film speed test that should be a fair starting point if not exact. Possibly might even need 50% more instead of 30%
