West Yorkshire Cameras, Stock Photos.
I have just been window shopping on the web site of
West Yorkshire Cameras. There is a good range of secondhand film cameras displayed. Alas the listings all appear to to have a caption to the effect that they do use stock photographs of a representative camera, and not necessarily the item that is being sold. Has anyone here purchased from them, sight unseen in this manner? If so did the second hand camera live up to the advert? Cheers.

I’ve brought quite a few item from them and most of the time they have been as described. I have found that a few items described as excellent as not that but on the whole good service. However I always check ffordes as well and if possible buy from then as I have always found there descriptions to be more accurate and even under described ( ie excellent but described as average) , I have also found their customer service to be better.

West Yorkshire Cameras are very good.
I've used them several times (Zorki 4, Dynax 600, Tele Xenar 270, Olympus XA2, a couple of Minolta lenses) and every single item was not only cleaner than described but fairly priced. The Tele Xenar did need a service, but it had been very reasonably priced in the first place and I have absolutely no complaints. I'd buy from them again without hesitation. Previously I was a regular user of Ffordes. Another great company, but they seem to be reducing their stock of film gear. Not to disagree with Quendil, but I personally have had no issues at all with WY Cameras quality of service. They also seem to have a more eclectic stock list. What I have noticed is that demand must be up- not very long ago a Praktica with 50mm lens was Ł25. NowŁ39! My Olympus XA2 was about forty quid. Now nearly 90. As I've said before on this forum, if you see it and want it, buy it now. Prices are only going one way. And it isn't down You'll be fine with either company I think. |
