Default Meet-up in Norfolk?

Following discussions at the Devon meet-up in January it was suggested that a weekend in Norfolk, probably based in King's Lynn in the late spring or early summer. In order to avoid school holidays and the worst of the summer rush I'd suggest 7/8/9 June or 15-17th June. Anyone Interested?

Plenty of photographic potential, including the historic medieval town of Lynn, the beautiful North Norfolk Coast and any number of ruined churches, abbeys, castles etc.

It's my neck of the woods so would be happy to act as guide.

All being well, I will attend Rob. Thanks for suggesting this as it is long time since we visited that area.

We may be able to help the Adnams brewery survive at the same time!

Excellent Rob.

Both dates are good for me - but I would prefer the 7/8/9th - if at all possible.

It looks like 7/8/9 June seems to work for most people. I'm off work that weekend so can act as a guide. If there are no dissenting voices I'll put it firmly in the diary. There is a Premier Inn in West Lynn, just across the river from the town, or a Travelodge on the southern edge of the town centre which is probably more convenient for the evenings. We can meet at mine near the town Centre for print viewings etc. Thoughts?

Hi Rob

Looks like a great plan.

I think we generally prefer the Premier Inn over a Travelodge, even if it is a bit further out.

Meeting at yours for a print viewing sounds like an excellent idea - thanks very much.

Martin

The Premier Inn is certainly in a nicer location although a bit further out. The adjacent Brewers Fayre restaurant is OK too. The bar always has a few real ales and they do an excellent breakfast. I'll draft up a plan of action with places to visit nearer the time. No shortage of locations! Just post here if you're planning to come so I have a rough idea of numbers.

Could we do some of your creeks with abandoned boat locations ?

I'm just putting forward a suggestion - not sure how photographic expedition friendly they are.

I've always thought they were wonderful photographs.

No shortage of those. I would suggest Thornham, Burnham Overy Staithet and Brancaster as good creeks with old boats. Sadly the excellent boat graveyard in King's Lynn itself has recently been 'cleaned up' and the boats removed.

I'll draw up a suggested itinerary nearer the time.
