With semi-stand the following are general suggestions I follow largely based on others suggestions, but works for me.

1) Do not pre-soak (can lead to uneven development/bromide drag)
2) Give long initial agitation 1-2 minutes to make sure the emulsion is saturated with fresh developer before the stand part. Reduces chances of bromide drag.
3) Agitate for 5s (2-3 slowish inversions) every 10 - 15 minutes. Reduces accutance but also reduces chances of bromide drag.

Did I mention that bromide drag is a worry?...

Good luck!

A development - inside the film canister was a scrap of paper suggesting the film might only be 25/26 years old and not 40+ as originally thought. Wonder if 15 years makes a difference after a quarter of a century?

Well, I diluted rodinal 1+100 and did a one hour semi-stand using my normal method. Long story short we have some images!

A couple of negs attached - and a quickly PS processed (sorry) of one to show how it might look printed

Thanks everyone for your input.

No one was more surprised than me. I’ve emailed a couple across to my friend and he doesn’t recognise them at all - so now the question is “who’s film is it?”

What an excellent result - could not have reasonably hoped for any better! Good job (and good to know this can work so well for old colour film.

Much better results than I got on the much older film that I did. They were very faded images on the negs that I produced, hence the extra work that I had to put in, to even get a result at all.

Your negs are quite the opposite to mine and yours look great, with loads of tone and contrast.

It will be really interesting to see how they print in the darkroom.

They have come out well, should print well to, maybe print on colour paper?
