Default If you were allowed but ONE camera...

If you were allowed but ONE camera what would it be and why?

I think I would choose my Ebony SW23 (6x9cm), for the reason that it's, compact, light and versatile. I can hand hold it down to 1/30 with 400ISO film. I've attached a Silvestri viewfinder for this perpose. With films like Delta 100 the results are superb. It takes lenses down to 35mm focal length and has plenty to offer in the way of camera movements. Downside, will only take lenses to 180mm on a flat lens board. But has I'm more of a wide view person that hasn't been a problem for me.

That’s just too cruel to contemplate.

It would have to be portable and versatile and be able to go with me wherever I went. It's going to be an slr or rangefinder. I don't think I have found it yet but my next (new) camera will a zeiss ikon and that could be it. But its no good for longer focal length lenses. Problem is that what I like to photograph may change and does change over time so whats good today may not be tomorrow. I also have my eye on a contax RTS3 but since I already have a couple of contaxes I could do without that.

After much thought and several changes of mind I'd have to go for my trusty old Nikon F90x on the grounds that I'm not making many landscape photographs these days and I do like making documentary stories which make the F90x my perfect choice.

Mamiya 7. It`s very compact and as easy to handle as a 35mm, but with a 4.5 times larger negative/positive depending on film type. The built in light meter is very good too.

I'd keep my Bessa 6x9 rangefinder. It has [only] the Helomar lens but it all works fine, packs up small is light and is lovely to use.

It would be either my Mamiya 6MF or Olympus OM-4ti, but I hope I never have to choose. I s'pose probably the latter for the metering system and variety of lenses. I still have enough APX25 not to need MF!
