Default Colour Slides Today.

In the seventies I saw a few professionally produced colour slide presentations made for industry.
All automated. Sound track, slide changing, fading etc..
After a couple of minutes getting used to it, it was just like watching a moving film. They were excellent.
Nothing like the boring holiday slide shows the neighbours gave in the darkened front room.
Being into darkroom work as my main hobby I didn't do much slide work.
To me they were a thing that some publishers insisted on as well as some competitions.
I developed a few rolls and experimented with 4 x 5 sheets in a tank, but never got enthusiastic about them.
I see there is a good supply of film and chemicals for slides still available.
With this in mind I was wondering, in this day and age of digital, are slides or original transparencies still a preferred medium in the publishing and printing world?
Have they still got a use in industry?
How do digital copies and prints from slides compare to negative film?
In a nutshell, are they a commercial tool?
Cheers all.

I’ve just posted a 35mm Velvia 50 and a 120 roll of Provia 100 to AG photographic to get processed
I like slides and still view them
There is a place in the states called DR5 chrome that turn black and white film in to slides, even in 35mm they look great

The Fuji filmsare gerat and could be still used commercially, but no way these days. Professionals only use digital for a good reason for them. Though 90% of the few professional I know use film when making images for themselves.
