Terry, do you remember the British Gas advert centred around "Cook, cook, cookability "
Well you certainly have "Stick, stick stickability" when it comes to this programme So well done Mike |

Another day. another episode...
This time the remaining contestants were taken to rural south westerly Ireland, to capture a picture of 'the landscape'. As usual, some strange shutter speed, aperture and ISO readings were used; a very high ISO, a wide open aperture and a very slow shutter speed were used by a few and when compared to the majority of the ones shown, some how didn't make sense based on day they had to photograph in. It really makes me wonder how many of them have left the camera in some form of 'Auto'. Nothing wrong with that of course, but for contestants to become a 'Master', I expect more obvious use of the controls on the camera. Two of the female contestants decided to include their own semi / nude body in the compositions, which didn't attract favor from the judges. One of the chosen best I agreed with, but again some of the comments from the judges left me wondering what they meant. There's still no obvious winner, but I think the correct person got the shove this week. Only a few more rounds to go.... Terry S |

Well, the final finally came... and went...
The final contestants were sent to various cities in Europe to bring back 3 final pictures to represent each place. By now, I thought at least one contestant would stand out as a obvious winner, but in my eyes at least, none did. A lot of conflicting views and comments were made by the judges about this weeks work, along with how they thought that the contestants had improved, since week one. A winner was chosen, who was very happy, as he received his trophy, a solo exhibition of his work... and did I mention the 150,000 euro cash prize? Looking at the Sky Arts website, it appears that quite a number of contests, under the same title, have been made since. Will they appear on the new free Sky Arts channel and will I watch another of the same format? I'm not sure, although I may put my portfolio forward for any new ones they make. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, as they say and who doesn't like a bit of rubbish advice from judges, when you know how good your work really is?!? Terry S |
