Wanted: Kaiser System V Focus extension arm
I'm looking for the flexible focus extension arm that replaces the fine-focus knob on the Kaiser System V enlargers. This looks like a very flexible fibreglass rod about 18" long with a control knob on the end. (Very handy for large enlargements as my arms aren't long enough for me to operate the fine focus control while still looking through my Peak focus finder at the same time). I checked with Kaiser DE and they stopped making them about five years ago. Have also checked with the UK importer (FotoSpeed) but they no longer stock this either.
All suggestions greatly appreciated. Roger |

Try RK Photographic, they stock Kaiser, and should be able to source the part you want.

Wrap an inner tube of appropriate length around the knob. You pull it tight enough to turn the focussing knob, and then you can focus as if by remote control.

I use a contraption that looks a bit like a giant wooden tuning fork. The open end jambs over the focussing knob.

Thanks all
I'll try phoning Mr Cad and RK Photo tomorrow. But I love the ingenuity of the inner tube and tuning fork solutions - I've got to try those !!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers Roger |

Roger,
If you make the tuning fork at the right pitch you could find your prints are F. SHARP Alan |

Unless I use too low a grade paper and they come out all flat...
I think I'm going to like FADU. |

Roger,
I forgot to mention that you might also get your highlights to sing.... Alan |

Roger-I stole,er adapted the idea from my instruction book that came with the LPL enlarger I had just bought way back when. In the focussing knob on this enlarger there is a groove cut into it. There is actually a part available, according to the manual, that looks like a big rubber band, and it extends the range of your arm. So not my idea.
