Default Off centre focusing

Hi. I have tried to find information on this but everwhere I go is all about digital cameras so I hoping you could help me with this. Basically I have noticed that my camera focus is always in the centre. However I was wondering how, if it's possible, you would focus on a subject that is not in the centre. I have checked the Minolta 7000 manual but there is nothing there on off centre focusing so I am thinking it cannot be done. Any ideas?

In manual focus mode you just focus so that whatever you want in focus is in focus and reframe.
In auto focus you either select a selectable focus point (modern cameras have several easily selectable) or point camera straight at whatever you want in focus and focus, then lock focus and then reframe.

In short you read your camera manual which should tell you.

When I used AF cameras and I needed to focus off centre I would either focus on the off center subject, use focus lock and re compose or simply switch of the AF and focus manually,
Richard

See you manual at page 34: FOCUSING

Basically your camera only have one focusing point in the centre, so focus, press the shutter button halfway down, recompose and shoot.
