Print Spotting
Quite a basic question for you Les, but I would like your opinion on spotting prints. I intend printing on FB paper and a mix of makes, including Adox Nuance, Adox Vario Classic, Fomatone and Multigrade to name a few. What I would like to know is what are the best spotting kits, there are two 6 bottle kits on the Silverprint website. Is there one you would recommend? I do intend to tone prints and also I will be doing some lith printing, so I suppose I'm after a good quality one kit covers all.
Thanks Neil |

Neil, For many years I used Spotone which was a wonderful product, sadly the company closed and the product is no longer available. When my Spotone ran out I spoke to Martin at Silverprint and he suggested I try Diaphoto, a German product. I purchased one bottle each of grey neutral and brown black and have found them to be excellent products. I don't think you need to purchase 6 bottles of different colours. I have mainly used neutral grey regardless of the final colour of the print. Ocasionally, I mix grey with the brown black if the print is particularly warm and the area being retouched is quite large.
