noticed that MarcAeon has been deleted, not sure why, but it seems all his threads have disappeared too, does this include all threads he has commented on have gone too.

Never seen this total wipe-out on any forum before

It does seem a pity, especially in those areas where a friend has contributed knowledge which is now lost. One day he may come back and enlighten us as to the reasons.

On a forum I participated on long ago we had a massive argument when the original person hosting it had to close it down. The argument was about the rules that should be put in place on the forum replacement.
The most vociferous complaints and dictums came from the people who used the forum to tout for business. Those of us who just used it to talk about photography had different ideas.
In the end the new forum master decided that since it was a discussion forum and not a forum for touting for business, that if you publish on the web then you can't un-publish and what you wrote would remain in place regardless. he also wrote that whatever you wrote in the forum could end up in any other website and the forum masters would not be responsible since they could not control who copied or archived it.
The people who were touting for business didn't join the new forum.

A forum can destroy your business. But hey, if you live by the sword you have to expect to die by it.
