Thanks Bob.

Judging from the scans in the gallery I found the interpretation of Uwe's negative very interesting as they are very different and have commented on them in the first print in the Negative Exchange Gallery for this Round. Makes me feel that I should also participate......We shall have to see when the new Round is announced. Would be another incentive to get into the D/R.

Uwe printed by TerryS:
Since I'm commenting on more than one image I thought I'd put my thoughts here rather than under 1 picture in the gallery.
First is the image itself, of an abandoned hospital. I like the repeated curves of the inner and outer walls, and the darkness waiting at the end of the corridor. Uwe's own print is well executed and has a great range of tones.
Terry first version takes all the strengths of Uwe's image but his print is darker and and rather more sombre in tone. It seems to me more in keeping with the mood of the scene, but then I am aware my own taste leans towards that style of heavier printing.
Lastly comes the Lith print. As Uwe observes this process can tip the shadows over into pitch black, and here the process has almost overwhelmed the image. Terry has shown elsewhere he is very adept with Lith, so it may be that this image simply doesn't suit is so well. For me his 'non-Lith' print strikes the best balance between revealing the scene and creating drama.
Having different versions of a single negative draws us into making comparisons, but I think if we were presented with any one of these prints in isolation all would look successful in their own way.

Thanks for the comments Skellum - much appreciated.

And I think your one line at the end of your comments - above - says it all.

If anyone is having issues viewing the Neg Exchange Gallery and having to scroll down past all the Monthly Exchange entries, there is a down-pointing double-arrow symbol at the far right hand side of each gallery that lets you collapse the list of galleries in that heading.

I will reverse the order of the galleries tomorrow so it is easier, but for now, the arrow should work to collapse and expand the gallery entries.

Good morning Bob.
Seems that even though I've been using this forum for years there are plenty of things I still need to learn!
Collapsing the big list of Print exchange rounds actually works well now I know about it. Thanks for the tip.

Don't feel bad - I only discovered it myself about 6 months ago. I had somehow collapsed the galleries without knowing how I had managed to do it and was presented with just the Gallery titles without knowing what had happened to the content . It took me more time than I am prepared to admit to find out what had happened to them and how to make them reappear in my browser...

Anyhoo, I have swapped them around now so faffing about is not necessary.

I've just uploaded mine and Uwe's prints, made from my negative, for this round of the exchange into the gallery. Note that they all look better when clicked on to fill the screen:

Sorry Uwe, I've just reread your letter in which you say that you've also scanned the prints.

And thanks for the swapping around of the listings Bob - much appreciated.
