Second favorite... Rollei Retro 400S! As it can be shot normally or as infrared.

Ilford Delta 100 is my second go to film in all formats. I strive for consistency, and I find I can hang prints shot on either Kodak T-max 100 and/or Ilford Delta 100 side by side and any difference between them is negligible.

So I chose HP5 as my no. 1 film because it’s what I like best in 120 format, and I mostly shoot 120. But for my no. 2 film I picked FP4 as it’s my favourite in 135. I love the tonality and classic look of traditional grain films, finding t-grain emulsions too sterile and digital in their rendering. I’ve had some great results with Tmax, but it’s really only got character in one developer, otherwise kinda boring. I’ve never shot a single frame I liked with Delta 100 - it looks like a b&w conversion from my dslr.
But FP4 in 135, shot with a good lens and developed in any number of brews, always looks fantastic. Seems sharper than t-grain, with more fine detail and lovely deep, gutsy tones. Wonderful film. Paired with the Sonnar in my Rollei 35, or some of the old Pentax glass on my MX, and that’s a killer combo.

With FP4 my favourite, I would have liked to rate HP5 as second favourite, but in fact FP4 and Delta 100 are equal favourites for me, for different reasons (tonality and detail, respectively). If there isn't enough light for one of those, HP5 is of course first choice.

Favourite may be two things
1) The film I use most 2) The film I would use most if it were cheaper |

Also 3/4) The film I would use most if it were darker/lighter outside.

FP4 -120 format, developed in PMK is my second favourite film.
This combination delivers high sharpness and minimal grain. The grain is masked by stain. The film is slower than HP5 |
