Default Photographs Do Not Bend.

I was binning a couple of videos the other day and having a quick peak to see if any had recordings worth keeping.
Found some clips of Billy Connolly.
He told an appropriate story for this site.

Billy said that at Christmas he used to get a part time job at the Post Office delivering the festive mail.
Whenever he had an envelope with a label saying PHOTOGRAPHS DO NOT BEND he would fold the envelope in half and write on it OH YES THEY DO before popping it through the letter box.

That's why I often put Photographs PLEASE DO NOT BEND, on the envelope, and a extra thick piece of waste mounting board in the envelope, ever since I had a postie in Scotland bend an envelpe with 4 prints inside a good few years ago, come to think about it,it was near christmas when it happened, perhaps Billy was the postman

Thanks Nat. An amusing story as long as you are not the receiver of such photographs

The information should include a dash after photographs or as Richard said the word PLEASE

Reminds me of the story of the Panda with a wrongly included comma in its definition

I won't go into it unless someone requests me to. You probably have heard it anyway

Mike

Punctuation....
A woman without her man - is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
And yes, photos do bend; they bend truth, reality, memory....

We went to see Richard Digance live and told the same tale claiming to be the originator of the action when he was a full time postman. It’s never funny if it has happened to you though.

I used to put a piece of 2mm MDF such as picture framers use for backboard these days. It cuts with a knife, hardboard needs a saw and is thicker and might increase the postage cost. Two piece of corrugated cardboard "cross-plyed" is good but still thick.

Until Paul's post, I didn't realise that MDF came in such thin sheets = @2mm.

Briefly looking on line, I found one supplier who charges about £0.30 for a near A4 sheet. I'm sure there may be a minimum order and p/p, but it's still way cheaper that the bigger boys prices, who charge about £6.00 for similar.

I'll keep it in mind though, for there has been a number of uses that it would of been helpful to me over the last year and beyond. So thanks for that Paul.

Watch it - this kind of knowledge will get you a job in the Prime Minister's cabinet, like Lynn Truss.

Thanks JO
Whenever she is mentioned on TV I have often pondered if she was the author.

To quote one Winston Churchill....
Never, never, never surrender.... Not even to a job offer like that....
