5x4 Film Wash Tank
This has no maker's name and I suspect it may have been made as a one-off or special order, possibly by Richards of Hull as it's in their usual grey polypropylene.
It can take up to ten sheets of 5x4 film on rather swish, spring-loaded stainless steel hangers. These fit into a rack that keeps them all rigid and separate. The rack then slots into the tank and water is fed in at the bottom, via a hose attachment, and overflows from the top into a sink. The plunger is simply to drain the tank. Pull it up and it releases the water out of the bottom. Forgive the quick 'n' dirty photos, but I wanted to get this out of the way. Hopefully they show the construction of it reasonably clearly. It's a solid item and has been barely used. I've had it for years and don't even remember where it came from! Due to an imminent house move it has to go. I'm asking for offers, whatever you think it's worth to you. I just want to see it go to a good home where it will be used and am not interested in making a vast profit from it. It's quite heavy, but could be packaged and sent at cost. Otherwise, collect - I'm on the Herts/Essex border near Harlow/M11/Bishop's Stortford. PM me if interested or if you have any questions.

hi Roy
did you use those hangers for film development ? I have some 8x10 that are single sheet but the same they are made by hewes if you used them can you share how to load them in the dark I can't figure out how to do it it's a struggle even with the lights on I'm clearly missing a trick I emailed hewes but they don't know which is strange but they are metal fabricators not processors best robin |

I never used these hangers for film development, only washing. I only used to use one set of spring clips as it was too much of a faff using all of them, even in room lighting! For 8x10 I guess you might need to use all four though but can't really offer any useful tips I'm afraid. Just dish process...
