Default Geminids Meteor Shower.

There are many web sites giving information about the Geminids Meteor Shower taking place over the next couple of nights.

You just need a tripod and a camera with a B setting.
A locking cable release is handy but not essential.

You should get some nice star trails, and most probably the odd satellite and aeroplane.

Good luck if you give it a try.

Cheers.

Thanks Nat.
I live in a place with proper Dark Skies.
Unfortunately, we also have some miserable weather. It's a standing joke amongst some of my friends that the supermoon, partial eclipse, leonids et al look just the same- full overcast.
However, we'll still look out for these.

As for satellites, it's a bit surprising how many you see on a clear night. There are even more going up all the time, enough to be worrying the astronomers.

Skellum, I lost track of the amount of times I heard Sir Patrick Moore say "Unfortunately we were clouded out here at Selsey."
It happens to the best of us at times.

Cheers.

Hi Nat.
The otherside of the coin is that when we do have clear skies they are just beautiful. Just to go home of an evening and step out of the car to see the milky way stretched out across the sky is lovely. The Northern lights tend to be visible from November onwards, and whilst uncommon they can be spectacular.
