Thanks, Skellum. As I had suspected to some extent, it sounds as if a scan might be a bit hit and miss. Not to worry. I'll have a look at your panoramic images.

Based on what Kevin did, I could just about see a difference in the neutral papers but without the two actual prints in each case the screen difference wasn't enough to make me rush out and buy selenium toner on a "Wow, what a difference! " basis
